Big River, Saskatchewan
Collab with us!
Every two years, one hundred artists from across the globe come together in the boreal forest of Saskatchewan to share in an experience of raw creation and open possibility. Artists at various stages of their careers are challenged to step outside their usual art practice, to explore medium, technique and subject matter through hands on collaboration and exciting creative exchange.
I propose that Emma = fire. The fire is constructed by the Emma coordinators; selecting the safe yet encouraging ‘fire pit’ (Ness Creek). gathering the ‘kindling wood’ (or tools and materials), importing the ‘fire wood’ (or artists), then igniting the fire with a simple word, “GO.” For an entire week the fire rages, molecules colliding, heat rising, the artists are consumed by a fury of intense and joyous energy. When the fire is extinguished, the most fascinating objects are found among the ashes.
