WHAT PARTICIPANTS NEED TO KNOW

When to Arrive
Everyone needs to arrive in Saskatoon by Sunday July 25, 2010.
There is a show opening curated by Michael Hosaluk on Sunday evening.
All Emma participants will leave on Monday morning July 26 to
travel to the Collaboration Site.

Where is it
The Collaboration Site is located near Big River, SK at the
Ness Creek Music Festival site. Visit our contact page for map.
You can drive there on your own, with another participant or
take our Collaboration Bus on Monday July 26 at 9 am.
The Collaboration Site is a 2 ½ hour drive from Saskatoon.

Meals
Meals will be catered by Ted and Wanda (the undisputed leaders
in Collaboration food!) The quality and variety of food has become
legendary. We promise you as much local food as possible with
lots of dietary options including vegetarian and non-vegetarian at
each meal. The Meal Package provides food from July 26 (noon meal)
to August 2 (breakfast meal).

Accommodation
Everyone who can provide their own accommodation is encouraged to do so.
There is lots of room for tents, tent trailers, campers etc. and limited accommodation
in small cabins built around the Ness Creek site. These cabins sleep 2 to 4 people in a
bunk bed arrangement. Although accommodation is rustic it will be comfortable and dry. Sheets, pillows, pillow case and blankets will be supplied for those who choose the $175 Accommodation Package. There is a shower and toilet facility on site but no sewer or electrical hook up for campers.

Studios
The Collaboration Site is located in the northern boreal forest surrounded by an abundance of trees with a beaver dam creek through the lower half. Aspen, birch, willow and other shrubs surround the site. Pole structures with a tin roof, tarpaulin sides and dirt floors will provide working areas out of the sun or rain. Because we are going ‘UNPLUGGED’ there will be no electrical outlets available in the studio areas. This includes NO LIGHTS to work at night. Bring along your favorite hand tools, musical instruments and party dresses.

Help with Setup
Everyone will arrive at the site on Monday July 26 by noon. We will all be part of the setup crew. Because we are “unplugged” there will be relatively little work to prepare the site.

Travel - GET YOUR PASSPORT NOW!
Valid Passports are a must for all out of country participants. Check expiry date on your passport.

You must arrive by Sunday July 25. Everyone will spend the night in Saskatoon. Please book a hotel or let us know if you want a billet. We will try and find a home for you if possible. People arriving by air will be met at the Saskatoon airport. Let us know your arrival and departure information so we can meet your flights.

The return bus will leave the Collaboration Site by 9 am on Monday, August 2, so book your return flight for Monday (August 2) late afternoon or Tuesday (August 3) morning.

Auction
Everything made at the Collaboration becomes the property of the Emma Collaboration and will be sold at Public Auction on Sunday August 1, 2010. This year the Auction will be held at the Ness Creek Collaboration Site.

Slides and Artwork
We do not have a facility that will allow set up of an instant gallery of individual’s work or a place to show digital images. If you bring pieces of your work you will need to be able to look after them as part of your luggage.

The Emma International Collaboration is a biennial event bringing together 100 artists from around the world to share talents and make collaborative art. Woodworkers, blacksmiths, painters, multi media artists, carvers and others share expertise and resources to make some wonderful art work that is sold at public auction at the end of the event.
