I received my first chisel set when I was in high school and carved my first sculpture out of plaster, which was exposed at the Mendel art Gallery in Saskatoon the same year. Shortly afterwards, I participated in snow carving competitions, was trained in wood carving in Bénin, West Africa, became a member of Prairie Sculptors Association with whom I exposed, and carved wooden sculptures in Mexico, Guatemala and northern Saskatchewan.
Over the past 4 years, following a short hiatus, I have continued to focus my attention on wood as a material having honed my wood carving skills at L’école National du Meubles in Montreal and having completed a professional diploma in Cabinet Making with honours at Rosemont Technology Center in Montreal. My training in stone carving in Montreal and Nunavik has encouraged me to intergrate stone work and other materials, such as found metal objects, to my work.
